Connie was drawing before she could write. She has always loved to draw. Connie used anything she could find to draw on. It didn’t matter how small the surface. Connie used regular #2 pencils, would start to sketch and then find something and develop it from there. Connie loves color! Connie remembers coloring in coloring books, and finding different ways to color. “Sure I did my best to stay inside the lines, but I liked to try different techniques. I would try swirling the color, and layering colors. I liked those techniques best. I taught myself to see different light sources and how the light danced on the surface. I love to create with music. Music has always moved me and freed my creative juices.”

Connie took every art class offered in primary and secondary school. She continues her love of learning more about art today by taking classes at the Sioux City Art Center when she is able to fit it into her busy life. In 2007 Connie began painting in watercolor and in 2009 oil. In 2010 Connie was awarded 2nd and 4th place in the local competitive show. Connie says she is thankful to Siouxland Artists for giving her an avenue to channel her passion for this wonderful part of her!
