A note
of thanks to all who participated and helped in a multitude of ways, with
the Gallery Grand Opening on May 29-30. Lynn Johnson and Darlene
Burson did a fantastic job with all the details, giving us a wonderful
2-day event that we will long remember. My deepest thanks to them and
all the others who helped clean, worked on the Setup and Publicity
committees, put up posters, brought food etc....we could not of pulled
it off with out each and every one of you. A special thank you to Pat
LeClair for the beautiful job she has done lettering the windows of the
doors. The
festivities began on Friday with the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and
the ribbon cutting event. The beautiful trophy we received for the
'Paint Siouxland Pink' contest was the icing on the cake. John Engel,
representative of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Race for the Cure, presented
the award to members of the Gallery and the Clarion Hotel. The Channel
4 News reporter was there to document the event. The Grand Opening
on Saturday was a great success. I personally received many compliments
on the Gallery itself as well as the work on display. We displayed
317 pieces submitted by 19 artists...something to be proud of and
tell your friends. It is impressive to see and very worth the effort
we put in. We
are currently removing the 'Paint Siouxland Pink' artwork from the windows
so Pat can continue to letter a windows. We have more plans in the
works for the Gallery. In the meantime, I encourage all Gallery members
to get busy and come up with some new work to keep the displays fresh.
We have an awesome chance to make a name for ourselves... but we must
be continually producing our best work! I can hardly wait to see what
the next wave of art will look like...I know it will be fantastic!
