FEBRUARY MEETING: Next Meeting is February 9th, 2010

Siouxland Artistts Group is meeting at the Benson Building at 7th and Douglas Streets (1 block west and 4 north of current location at SC Art Center Annex).  Vivian Miller has loaned us her office (on 3rd floor, suite 350 - there is an elevator) for Jan and Feb meetings since we can't meet at the SC Art Center Studio those months.  Parking is free after 5:00 p.m.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS:• St. Luke's Children's Intensive Care Unit Wanda Veltkamp, Diana Buddi, Kathy Saunders--all Siouxland Artists and painting murals for St. Luke's Children's Intensive Care Unit.  Pictures of their work will be available soon.
 
• MARY TREGLIA COMMUNITY HOUSE Joey Feaster, a Siouxland Artist, just recently designed and helped an Eagle Scout, Michael Martin paint a mural at the Mary Treglia Community House.  Pictures will be available soon. 
 
• FAMILY SERVICE CENTER Sharon Hobart, Kathy Saunders, Aurora Adams, Wanda Veltkamp, Bonnie Johnson, and Diana Buddi just recently completed a huge canvas and mural project at the (Click to view page) Family Service Center  in Sioux City.  New photos will be available soon.

The Gallery, is  affiliated with Siouxland Artists' Inc., A grand opening for the Gallery was on Saturday,  May 30th, was the grand opening. 
(I have loads pix to size and upload into our site.  Hopefully, soon.)  If you are interested in visiting , hours are as follows: 

  Thursdays--2:00PM to 6:00PM • • Fridays-2:00PM to 6:00 PM • • Saturdays  from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Opportunities for Siouxland Artists to sell their work: 
Latham Park Art in the Park will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.  Contact Becky Bowers.   Entry fee is $45.00.  Call Randi, our president,  if you're interested in participating, and I'll forward your email to Becky.  
 
Downtown Partners is holding a meeting on August 6, to discuss having another ARTWALK.  If you are interested in participating in the planning of the event, please call or email Randi Mackey.

Up Coming Art Shows and Events

Oct 5th - The Autism Artwork exhibits should be coming to us .....Setup Team will need to meet sometime shortly after that to hang it and any new work that we have acquired from the members.

Tues. Oct. 13th SA meeting - at 5:30 in the Art Center annex....don't miss Mona Majorowicz's talk on Pastels and print making. I have seen her work and it is fantastic!!!!! Bring your questions about the process of getting prints made....she will have the answers I am sure.

Oct. 17th - Darlene Burson will be giving a Wood Carving Demonstration at the Gallery...10 AM to Noon.  This is open to the public and it is FREE. Invite people to attend and plan to come yourself if you would like to learn the art or just see her in action. Preferred seating goes to the public of course. Nov. 7th,  she will be teaching a class for those who wish to try it for themselves....there will be a small charge for the class.

Oct. 24th - The Downtown Partners will be conducting their annual "Art Walk" ....they will swing thru the Gallery and see our work. If you would like to come in and paint or socialize that day....feel free....details at SA meeting

Nov 14---- the Autism Art Show and Auction.... details to come later

Dec 4, 5, 6th - Siouxland ArtistsHoliday Show & Sale.... a flyer link is on the home page. We will get details at the SA meeting. Flyers and postcard promotionals will be available the first part of November for members to distribute around the surrounding area.
